Most Important: 1. Avoid running the battery through "deep discharge" cycles — that is using it until it's fully depleted to 0 %. Instead, begin recharging it when it reaches, say 2% 當電池電量過低時繼續使用電池是會對電池有致命的損害的 2. Li-ion batteries should be kept cool. Some tips and fallacies : 1. Li-ion batteries do not suffer from the memory effect. 鋰電池沒有記憶效應簡單說何時對電池充電都不會影響他的 FCC (Full Charge Capacity) 2. Unlike NiCad batteries or NiMH batteries, lithium-ion batteries should be charged early and often. 許多人建議讓電池用到低電量時再充電是不對的. 這只會增加電池的charge cycle 而已 3. A unique drawback of the Li-ion battery is that its life span is dependent upon aging from time of manufacturing (shelf life) regardless of whether it was charged, and not just on the number of charge/discharge cycles. 也就是說電池的壽命跟充電次數沒有絕對的關係倒是跟他的年紀有絕對相關不過鋰電池都有最大充電次數的限制(~500) HP 的網頁 http://h50178.www5.hp.com/support/DR251A/faqs/54577.html 說明了電池使用的環境對FCC 的影響較充電次數為劇 4.鋰電池重覆可充電放電次數的計算方式: from HP website: 每次只用掉10%電池內的電能就將電池再充滿電，這樣來回10遍才算一次電池壽命的充放電週期(cycle)。如果每次只用掉20%的電能就將電池再充滿電，這樣來回5遍才算一次電池壽命的充放電週期。所以很多人說... 一插上電就會增加一次充電次數的觀念也是不對的... so again charge it "early" and "often" 來自 Apple 的文章標準保養方式若要適當保養鋰電池，必須偶爾讓其中的電子活動。蘋果不建議您一直讓筆記型電腦插上電源。比如說，利用火車通勤時使用 iBook，到了辦公室再替它充電，這就是一種理想的使用方式。這可以讓電池中的電子保持流動。 5. When using a notebook computer running from fixed line power over extended periods, it is advisable to remove the battery and store it in a cool place. 這項建議主要的考量是長時間使用NB時電池的溫度會升高.. 此時將電池取下對電池較好. 而不是因為電池放在電腦上會一直充電唷! (以 IBM 為例電池充到100%後就會進入不放電也不充電的狀態直到 < 95% 為止) 6. Note that it is very important not to store your battery at full charge.
