Probably, you want one column and then a two-column is inserted
if this is what you want, try this
one column here
\begin{minipage}[]{0.49\textwidth}
....
\end{minipage}
\begin{minipage}[]{0.49\textwidth}
....
\end{minipage}
one column here
Again a mwe from questioners will make debugging easier.
