I am not sure if this helps, but I also had this problem on 6.0/amd64
before, first thing is that freebsd does not fully support skype at
the moment, and only a few sound crads are availble. I actually bought
one of the cards that are on the list to be able to use skype. But if
you can't play the music from the device, you might need to configure
your sound device first.
