[閒聊] 硬碟壽命與溫度已回收
這幾天常有朋友壞硬碟，每個都是硬碟有異音
讓我開始懷疑是否天冷硬碟比較容易壞？

4.Better too hot than too cool
Google's research found that temperature doesn't affect the reliability of
hard drives very much, and certainly not in the way many people expect. In
the first two years of a drive's life, it is more likely to fail if it is
kept running at an average temperature of 35 degrees C or less than if it was
running at over 45 degrees C. That's surprising, and it suggests that
spending too much time worrying about air conditioning systems may be
counterproductive — a warmer environment actually suits disk drives better.
From year three onward, disks running above 40 degrees C had a higher failure
rate than cooler running drives, but could it be possible their higher
temperatures were a symptom of their impending failure? It's not clear that
that is the case, with Google concluding that "at moderate temperature ranges
it is likely that there are other effects which affect failure rates much
more strongly than temperatures do."
兩年內，運作溫度 "小於35度" 與 "45度以上" 相比，前者較容易壞 (高溫較好)
三年以上則相反，運作溫度 "40度以上" 較容易壞 (低溫較好)
但不論如何，其他因素的影響比溫度來得大！
以下是我的猜測：
硬碟是氣密的，運作溫度不易受環境影響，故冬天的運作溫度與夏天不會差太多
但關機溫度則會相差甚遠，冬天開機時硬碟必須承的溫差較大 (熱脹冷縮)
且硬碟中的液態軸承在低溫時潤滑較差，產生更多的磨損及振動
是否品質不良的硬碟將無法度過寒冬？
而品質好的硬碟能活否得久則與其他零件相同，低溫活得久。

謝謝指教！硬碟並非氣密，有air filter與維持與外界氣壓相同。
這樣的話air filter的品質將有可能
溫度降低：進氣 <- 若filter異常將有可能有雜質跑入HDD中
溫度升高：出氣

剛剛查到的資料：
Air filter and Air trap

硬碟對外除了有Air filter可以過濾硬碟內部的空氣與外部的exchange
內部還有Air trap吸附硬碟中的小灰塵 （依靠硬碟旋轉時的空氣流向）
